Just welcomed some adorable baby quail with the help of our @hatchingtime incubator 🐣.
Witnessing their growth in the brooder is truly heartwarming.
There’s something about husbandry that brings serenity to the soul.

Happy New Year y’all!!
The quail’s new home is setup and I’m super excited.
Pretty sure it’s going to make my quail breeding endeavor easier.
This system is from @hatchingtime and I’ve been eyeing it for a year or more.
As time goes on I’ll let you know what I think.
I opted to purchase two layers to get started but it can go up to five and there’s an incubation layer available too.
If I like it I plan to buy that layer later.
So why did I want it?
• Easy cleaning
• Easy egg collection ✅
• Less food waste
• Less daily hands on care
• Neater setup ✅
• Space savings ✅
I’m already seeing some benefits.
We shall see if the unchecked things are also true in the coming weeks!
I’ll definitely keep you posted!

DISCLAIMER: If you don’t like this setup (for whatever reason) this post is not for you.
All of my content won’t be for everyone.
However, if you are an urban dweller or live in a place where raising your own meat is not doable outside this maybe helpful.
I absolutely could raise my quail outside and on the ground but my body is no longer a fan.
Also, if you aren’t new here you know my quail were never pets.
They are for meat and eggs.
However, they are still well taken care of and treated well.
There is no overcrowding, the cages are kept clean, they always have food and water and they also get treats.
Wanted to get that out of the way first.
Have had unfollow announcements 😒 and judgmental comments across platforms related to this setup.
I’m not here telling anyone what to do or that what they are doing is wrong, I’m simply sharing my urban homesteading journey.
I had made a decision that I wasn’t going to post about the quail anymore but then I decided someone may need this information so here we go 😂.

Now, let’s get to the real point of this post lol.
First, the thing I’m most excited about…I was able to integrate two quail using this system with zero issues!
Literally no fighting at all!
You know my integration efforts in the past have been stressful.
The system has proven to be less work and has lowered the amount of food waste as well.
There is no fighting in any covey (there are three quail in each cage) and they all healthy.
I was going to say happy and healthy but the truth is they cannot talk to say if they are or are not so we are keeping this post real and honest.
However, none of them are showing signs of stress so that gives me relief.

Anywho, I just wanted to share in case someone is trying to figure out how they maybe able to raise their own meat inside.
This is a viable option but it’s not the only option!
Do your own research and choose the option that’s right for you 💜.
