What $1M in ad spend actually looks like

If you look at the homepage of a massive brand, you might think they have it easy. They have brand recognition. They do not need clever copy or psychological tricks. They can just sell on their name.

That is a lie.

When you find the actual landing pages these massive brands use, the ones they are pumping millions of dollars into, you see a different story.

They use discounts. They use urgency. They use every psychological trigger available to get a user to convert. Being a big brand does not give you a free pass on doing the hard work of conversion optimization.

The biggest secret in performance marketing is that the best landing pages are hidden.

They live on obscure /lp subdirectories.

They live on weird subdomains.

They are built using third-party landing page builders and are completely detached from the main website navigation.

Why? Because the smartest advertisers are dividing their traffic into incredibly specific niches.

They might have dozens of landing pages, each tailored to a highly specific audience segment. You will never see these pages if you just go to their homepage.

The most overrated thing you can do is look at a cool brand, check their homepage, and assume that is their landing page strategy.

The real gold is hidden.

When you see a page that has been running for months with massive ad spend behind it, you are looking at a page worth studying.

Companies do not burn millions of dollars on pages that do not convert.

If they keep sending traffic to it, it works.

If you want to know what a million dollars in ad spend looks like, stop looking at homepages. Start digging for the hidden URLs where the real money is being made.
